3 DAYS BETWEEN MOUNTAINS AND THE CULTURE OF THE IMPONENT VILLA DE LEYVA
Three days and two nights immersion in the magic of Villa de Leyva with gastronomic immersion, colonial history and approach to the culture of the indigenous community.
It is wonderful to find the extraordinary green of the mountains that frame the state of Boyacá, you will feel it more and more intense as you approach Villa de Leyva. After crossing some magical villages typical of the Savannah, you will find, on both sides of the road, beautiful hills that will accompany us during the trip.
The site where Independence took place
leaving Bogotá, we will travel about four hours by car, we will have an invaluable stop, at the Boyacá Bridge. In this place one of the most important events in the history of Colombia occurred, it was in this place where the battle of Boyacá took place to achieve the independence of the country, in the year 1819.
From Villa de Leyva you will be surprised by the stone roads, the central square that is framed in imposing mountains, the charm of its inhabitants, culture, gastronomy, and the white walls of the houses that are typical of the times of the colony. Villa de Leyva was founded in June 1572 and is considered a Heritage Village of Colombia.
When we return to Bogotá, we will make a stop in the town of Ráquira, its name comes from the Muisca language and means “rua” (pot) and “quirá” (town), that is to say “pot town. There you will find the most beautiful ceramic pieces in the country.

La Periquera Waterfall Route
Between the sandy and green landscape typical of the region we will climb mountains that will invite us to learn about history and Muisca culture, until we find a sacred place, we will go along a majestic path, protected by the communities that will guide us on the way to the beautiful waterfall of La Periquera. Then we will continue the route to the Adventure Park.

Between rural paths and leafy trees, we will cycle until we reach Sutamarchán, a typical town located west of Villa de Leyva.
In this route, it is not just about being in contact with trees and old rural roads, we can try the famous sausage of Sutamarchán, a sausage made with pork that has a unique flavor in this region, continuing with our route we will reach a vineyard that will open its doors to learn about the cultivation and the different strains that are grown in this areas and the different wines that are produced in Villa de Leyva.
The culture will be responsible for making the closure of the route, with a visit to the Muisca Observatory, also popularly known as the “El Infiernito” where we will know the history and influence of that culture in the country, the Terracotta House, 500m² and considered the largest pottery in the world.
